Missouri Tigers running back Ahmad Hardy was shot at a concert in Mississippi on Sunday morning. He has undergone surgery and is in stable condition.
WDAM reported that three suspects — Alvin Peyton, Landice Magee, and Jvon Sibley — were arrested at the scene of the incident. According to 247 Sports, the three suspects were Hardy’s teammates in high school. They were all on Lawrence County’s 2023 football roster.
As per the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, the three suspects were released the same day with no charges filed. Hardy was reportedly hit in the upper leg and was wounded alongside one other victim.
The shooting took place at around 2 in the morning when the venue was closing. According to local officials, Hardy wasn’t targeted, but because it’s an ongoing investigation, not all information has been made public. Multiple gun casings were reportedly found at the scene.
Hardy is expected to make a full recovery.

According to an ABC17 interview with Laurel Police Sgt. Macon Davis, Hardy was at the concert to support someone he knew.
“There had been a scheduled concert there of some rappers, or maybe a couple of different rappers,” Davis said. “It drew a large crowd, and then gunshots rang out at the end.”
Missouri Athletics released a statement after the incident.
“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family, and fans,” the statement read. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength, and support.”
