Zachariah Branch’s NFL Draft stock reportedly won’t be affected by his arrest in Athens, Georgia, on Sunday morning.
Branch was arrested on misdemeanor charges of obstructing public sidewalks/streets and failure to comply with multiple lawful verbal commands from an officer in the streets of Athens.
Branch was in Georgia to witness his brother Zion at the spring game on Saturday, and it was believed that the arrest could significantly harm his NFL Draft stock just days before he attempts to reach the big leagues.
However, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that Branch’s arrest isn’t expected to be a sticking point for teams looking to draft the former Georgia wide receiver.
This will come as welcome news to Branch and his friends, family, and fans, as the 22-year-old is widely expected to be selected in at least the second round.
An Arrest So Close to the Draft Has Been Catastrophic in the Past
If Branch does get selected, he should consider himself lucky. In 2025, Isaiah Bond was arrested just two weeks before the NFL Draft, and he wasn’t drafted as a result. While he was arrested on a much more serious sexual assault charge, it was later dropped, but the damage was done.
The former Texas and Alabama man was expected to be a Day 2 or 3 pick before the incident, which altered the course of his career forever.
