Arch Manning had a lot of hype around him even before the 2025 college football season began, with analysts like Paul Finebaum projecting him to be among the best players the sport would’ve seen since Tim Tebow.
Despite the hype, many analysts were left underwhelmed by Manning’s Performance, especially in the first half of the season.
However, many analysts also defend Manning and say that the 2025 season wasn’t entirely his fault, as Steve Sarkisian’s Texas didn’t really provide him the protection he needed.
Talking on a similar tangent, podcaster Brandon Walker said on Sunday:
“I think another way to tell the non-ball knowers this summer is to rank Arch Manning number one or number two on quarterback lists and watch him come out of the woodwork and say, ‘ You’re just doing it because of his name. He sucked. He was terrible. He was awful. I can’t believe this. Didn’t you learn your lesson last year? Listen, if you say that, you either didn’t watch, didn’t pay attention, or you’re just stupid because nobody, nobody told the truth about Arch Manning more than me.”
“He was bad for six weeks. He was terrible. But if you weren’t watching and you didn’t notice by October, that guy was putting things together. That game where he basically beat Oklahoma.”
Urban Meyer Shares Unfiltered Thoughts on Arch Manning’s Situation
Arch Manning has been subjected to a lot of trolling and criticism over his performance in the 2025 college football season.
Sharing his wisdom on how to handle the haters, Urban Meyer said on “The Triple Option” on July 14:
”I think the common denominator of every great quarterback is a great group of players around him, and I remember talking to Sark about this,” Meyer said.
“Everybody’s all over Arch Manning, and I get it. You’re a quarterback, and you have that last name? Get used to it, pal, that’s gonna be the rest of your life. However, when players aren’t open, that’s not the quarterback’s fault. And the receivers against Ohio State really struggled. They’re very talented, they didn’t play great in that game.”
Manning ended the 2025 season by throwing for 3,163 yards and scoring 26 touchdowns against 7 interceptions.
