Curt Cignetti has been on a roll since he joined the Indiana Hoosiers. After going 11-2 in his first season, which was a huge improvement from a 3-9 season before his arrival, Cignetti won the national title with Indiana in 2025.
Following a flawless 16-0 run, Curt Cignetti is now taking major strides in recruiting new players for the next season. Recently, he secured the highest-rated commit in the program’s history.
Cignetti landed a commitment from Monshun Sales, a five-star, 6-foot-5, 200-pound wide receiver. Sales had plenty of great options on the table, but he chose Indiana over offers from Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU. He made an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” to announce his commitment.
“For the next three to four years, I’ll be taking my talents to Indiana University,” he said.
Some fans trolled Indiana and Sales for his decision in the comments of the Instagram post by SportsCenter NEXT. They believe that since Fernando Mendoza has left the team, they won’t be as successful. However, others are still rooting for Sales.
“Poor guy is going to realize real soon that this team is not going to be anything without Mendoza. He would have killed it at LSU or Texas, or Alabama or Ohio State,” a fan wrote.

The trolling from fans is not surprising because Curt Cignetti is ranked eighth among the ‘most hated coaches’ in college football by RotoWire.

Curt Cignetti has lost just two games, one in the conference, in the last two seasons. He has won multiple Bowl games and the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship. Needless to say, he isn’t adored by rival fans.
During a recent appearance on Up & Adams, host Kay Adams told him that he was ranked 8th on RotoWire’s list of Most Hated Coaches in CFB and asked for his response.
“Maybe I’m so cuddly and likable,” he said.
Curt Cignetti is ranked behind Lane Kiffin, Deion Sanders, Dabo Swinney, Lincoln Riley, Ryan Day, Kirby Smart, and Mario Cristobal.
