WATCH: Mikaylah Williams Leads Team USA to FIBA 3×3 World Cup Win With Tough Shot

LSU Tigers guard Mikaylah Williams has brought her three-level scoring prowess to the international level, and it has translated into success for Team USA Women. Throughout the 2026 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Warsaw, Poland, Williams has bedazzled the crowd with her tough buckets and shifty handles. This is what she is best known for throughout her tenure in college hoops.

Williams has fared tremendously well in the tournament, even up to the point of the final versus Australia. Down by just one, Williams sized up her defender and took a side step back. The Bossier City, Los Angeles native then faked the shot, causing her defender to jump. This gave enough room for Williams to take the shot and win the gold medal for her country. @ballislifewbb on Instagram captured the whole sequence and posted it.

Along with hitting the gold medal-clinching shot, Mikaylah Williams was also named the MVP of the tournament. Williams now joins former Stanford Cardinal star and current Los Angeles Sparks stalwart Cameron Brink as the only other Team USA Women’s player to win the award. Williams will likely bring this momentum into her fourth year in college in the 2026-27 season.

As a part of one of the youngest teams in the tournament, Mikaylah Williams had a chip on her shoulder

During her post-game interview, Mikaylah Williams revealed that she and her teammates felt like they had to overcome a chip on their shoulders. This is because they were among the younger teams in the tournament. Williams, alongside her LSU Tigers teammate MiLaysia Fulwiley, is about to enter her senior year of college basketball. The team is also composed of South Carolina Gamecocks’ Joyce Edwards and Oklahoma Sooners’ Sahara Williams.

“I’m just blessed. I’m blessed to be on this stage, to play with some amazing teammates, to play for some amazing coaches and to rep USA. We’re young. I think we’re the youngest team in the tournament, and we came in here with a chip on our shoulder,” Williams was quoted as saying.
