Ta’Niya Latson and Raven Johnson recently met up at the WNBA, as the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever clashed on Wednesday, with the latter team coming out on top 87-78. Latson, who plays for the Sparks, and Johnson, who plays for the Fever, played together at South Carolina until very recently, under Dawn Staley’s leadership.
After the game, the players could be seen enjoying their time together, with the South Carolina Gamecocks posting a short reel to their Instagram account that showed the now WNBA rookies enjoying the moment.

In her Instagram story, Johnson reposted the reel and added the following message:
“So proud of her,” wrote Raven Johnson on her Instagram story
Latson was picked as the 20th overall selection of the 2026 WNBA Draft, in the second round of the event, by the Los Angeles Sparks. Johnson, in turn, was a first-round pick, with the 10th overall selection by the Indiana Fever. During this Wednesday encounter, they didn’t get to feature much, with Latson playing for two minutes, while Johnson suited up for five.
Raven Johnson was nervous during her WNBA debut on Saturday
Despite being one of the best players in women’s college basketball over the last few seasons, it’s clear that Raven Johnson still has much to learn when it comes to the pros. This is the opinion that coach Stephanie White of the Indiana Fever shared with the press on Saturday, following the player’s debut against the Dallas Wings:
“Sometimes it’s game one, it’s day one, it’s a different environment.” White also said, “I thought she did some really good things for us on the defensive end, pushing the ball, pushing pace.”
White also said that she thought that Johnson showed a bit of nervousness during the 107-104 defeat to Dallas and that:
“I don’t know if she’ll admit to it or not (The fear),”
That day, Raven Johnson played for 12 minutes, scoring four points and recording two rebounds and two assists. The Fever’s next game is this Friday night, when they host the Washington Mystics at home in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis. With a record of 1-1, Indiana is near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, although the season is just getting started.
