Hidalgo has quickly emerged as one of the best scorers in the country, averaging 24.4 points per game, fourth most in the nation, including a 34-point dazzler against Louisville in early February.
Miles has emerged as an elite passer, averaging 5.8 assists per game, good for 14th in the nation. She has three triple-doubles on the season, against Mercyhurst in the season opener and back-to-back against Loyola Maryland and Virginia in December. Miles has also turned into an elite shooter, making almost 50% of her field goals, including an over 40% 3-point percentage.
Together, the two have helped lead Notre Dame to a projected No. 2 seed, per ESPN bracketologist Charlie Creme’s predictions. The Fighting Irish finished the season off in the ACC Tournament Semifinal, where they lost to the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils (26-7, 14-4). Notre Dame currently has the sixth-best odds to win the National Championship at +650, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Fighting Irish are one of four schools with multiple players nominated for the Wooden Award — presented annually to the most outstanding college basketball player in the United States. UConn’s Paige Bueckers and Sarah Strong, LSU’s Aneesah Morrow and Flau’jae Johnson, and TCU’s Sedona Prince and Hailey Van Lith represent the other three schools.
Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore, UCLA’s Lauren Betts, Texas’ Madison Booker, Iowa State’s Audi Crooks, NC State’s Aziaha James, Florida State’s Ta’Niya Latson, and USC’s JuJu Watkins round out the rest of the ballot.
