Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter, Me’arah O’Neal, just finished a breakthrough season at Florida, where she became a regular starter for the Gators. In 33 starts in her sophomore season, O’Neal averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, while having a field-goal percentage of 52.9%.
Now, she has decided to move away from Florida, likely looking for a team that allows her to participate in the NCAA Tournament. Here are some options that would likely keep her as a starter, while contending for silverware.
Top 3 Landing Spots for Me’arah O’Neal
#3 Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns could prove to be an interesting move. The Longhorns have already proved they can contend at the national level, reaching the Final Four of March Madness this season.
This move would bring Me’arah O’Neal near her hometown of Houston, which is just two and a half hours from Austin. It also keeps her at the SEC, which is a great NIL and WNBA showcase platform.
#2 Oklahoma State
A more lateral move than an upgrade, this could also be an opportunity for Me’arah O’Neal to be front and center of a promising lineup. Last season, the Cowgirls finished with an overall record of 24-10 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
With a couple of seasons of work, this could be a team that could try to reach the Elite Eight at least. O’Neal could also look to continue her connection with Gators teammate Liv McGill, who transferred to Oklahoma State.
#1 LSU Tigers
This would be a perfect fit for Me’arah O’Neal. The LSU Tigers of Kim Mulkey are a big brand, the very definition of it. The move would keep her in the SEC and move her up a notch in the raw brand power of the program. It’s possibly a better place to get significant NIL money for a women’s player.
But she also has a strong chance of becoming central to the lineup, as Mulkey hasn’t been able to keep the team as competitive as it was back in 2024-25. Nothing to say about the fact that they haven’t been able to move past the Elite Eight round since winning the national title in 2023. This could be the best fit for both sides of the equation.
