Is Me’arah O’Neal Entering the Transfer Portal? Exploring Shaq’s Daughter’s Future Decision

Me’arah O’Neal, the daughter of four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal, has just dropped a bomb regarding her future in college basketball and beyond.

On Tuesday, Florida Gators guard Me’arah announced that she is entering her name into the current offseason’s transfer portal in the hopes of finding a new team to play for.

The news was also shared by women’s college sports reporter Talia Goodman on her Instagram account. According to Goodman, O’Neal is entering this year’s offseason transfer portal through the representation of her agency, Lift Sports Management. The same agency confirmed the news to media outlets and Goodman.

“BREAKING: Florida’s Me’Arah O’Neal plans to enter the transfer portal, her representative at @liftsportsmanagement told @On3. The 6-4 sophomore averaged 13.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.4 spg and 1.4 bpg this season,” Goodman captioned her Instagram post.

O’Neal is coming off her sophomore stint of collegiate basketball under the tutelage of coach Kelly Rae Finley and the Florida-based program. The Houston, Texas, native also spent her first year with them back in the 2024-25 campaign. In her second season, the Gators finished with an overall record of 18-15 (5-11 SEC), and did not make this year’s national tournament.

Still, Florida managed to pull off an appearance in the 2026 SEC tournament, where they were eliminated in the second round by coach Jennie Baranczyk’s Oklahoma Sooners through an 18-point loss, 82-64, in early March of this year on neutral grounds, the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. For the year, O’Neal averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 33 games played.

Me’Arah O’Neal Gives A Four-Word Statement On Her Instagram About Entering The Transfer Portal

With Talia Goodman’s aforementioned post cross-posted to her Instagram account, Me’arah O’Neal has since reposted it to her story with a four-word statement.

The said statement serves as O’Neal’s first time speaking about entering her name into the 2026 transfer portal, which she confirms she is doing in line with her trust in God in deciding her future. It remains to be seen where O’Neal will transfer for her junior year.

“Trust in GOD timing,” O’ Neal Wrote.
