    Who Are Gabriela Jaquez’s Parents? Know More About UCLA Star’s Brother Jaime Jaquez Jr. And Family

    UCLA Bruins guard Gabriela Jaquez comes from a basketball-driven family, as every member of her family plays or has played the sport at a high level. Jaquez is in her fourth and likely final year of college basketball with coach Cori Close’s Los Angeles-based program.

    Gabriela’s older brother, Jaime Jaquez Jr., is a forward for coach Erik Spoelstra’s Miami Heat. Jamie is in his third NBA campaign in the 2025-26 season, and he has spent it all with the Miami-based franchise. The 25-year-old was drafted with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft. Similar to Gabriela, Jaime played for the Bruins for four years.

    Gabriela and Jaime are the kids of Angela Sather and Jaime Jaquez Sr. Both parents also played collegiate hoops. According to “Town And Country Magazine,” in an article by Emily Burack, published on April 4, both Sather and Jaquez Sr. played for the Concordia University Golden Eagles, where they actually met.

    Sather won the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year award in 1997, and even helped the Golden Eagles qualify for the NAIA tournament in the same year. She was inducted into the school’s hall of fame 18 years ago, in 2008. Jaquez Sr. is of Mexican descent.

    Gabriela and Jaime Jaquez Jr. have another brother, Marcos Jaquez, who is the youngest. , Marcos plays a different sport from his siblings, opting for American football. He plays as a defensive lineman for the Ventura College Pirates. Marcos does have a background in playing competitive hoops, though, as he played both basketball and football during his years at Camarillo High School.

    On Sunday, Gabriela Jaquez was part of history, as she and the rest of coach Cori Close’s UCLA Bruins won their first-ever national championship.

    They did so by defeating coach Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks by 28 points, 79-51. In the process, Jaquez dropped a double-double of a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-14 shooting, to go with five assists and a steal.
