LOOK: Ugly Fight Breaks Out Between Coastal Carolina And South Alabama As Referee Gets Knocked Out

In one of the postseason games of the women’s basketball tournament in the Sun Belt conference, two teams got into a huge fight that even knocked out one of the referees. On Wednesday, March 4, coach Yolisha Jackson’s South Alabama Jaguars were pitted against coach Kevin Pederson’s Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida, for their conference’s postseason.

In a video uploaded by @TheFieldOf68 on X/Twitter, the viral moment from the game was captured as the two programs got into a physical scuffle with one another. It all started at the 5:39 mark of the fourth quarter, when the Jaguars were up by nine points, 64-55. Coastal Carolina forward Tracey Hueston was fighting for a position inside as her team had ball possession, through which she matched up against Jaguars standout Cordasia Harris.

The two then got into it as they were competing on the paint, as Hueston had her back against Harris, then swiftly turned around to confront her. Both players started to swing punches at each other, with their respective squads and the referees hurriedly racing towards them to halt the fight. In the process, however, a female referee was seemingly inadvertently hit by Hueston, causing her to get knocked out and lie down on the floor.

With the scuffle, the referees decided to eject both Hueston and Harris from the hotly contested affair, along with a few South Alabama players, such as starters Amyah Sutton and Daniela Gonzalez, and bench players Terren Coffil, Saneea Bevley, and Jeriyah Baines. No other player besides Hueston was ejected from Coastal Carolina’s roster, as the game entered its latter stages.

The South Alabama Jaguars Stayed Composed To Defeat The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

As a result of several players from the South Alabama Jaguars getting thrown out of the game, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers tried to take advantage.

Unfortunately for them, however, the Jaguars held on to their lead and eventually won by double digits, 80-70, over the Chanticleers to move into the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt conference tournament.
