A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo are among the most popular power couples in the basketball world. While the two have kept their relationship out of the public eye for the most part, a rumor that Wilson is pregnant has surfaced on social media.
The rumor was spread by Hoops Crave on X, in a post claiming Wilson and Adebayo had announced they were expecting twins. The post had nearly two million views as of Monday night.
“A’ja Wilson announces that she is pregnant and that she and Bam Adebayo are expecting twins,” the account posted, along with a picture of an ultrasound.
However, it’s important to note that the account making this claim is a parody account known for spreading fake news and rumors about popular basketball players. It even has a ‘parody’ tag in its description, which might have gone unnoticed by many fans. Neither Wilson nor Adebayo has made any such announcement.
Earlier this week, the account posted parody tweets about how Dwight Howard wanted to bring back $5 Footlongs and that Apple would implement a trash can emoji when typing “Bronny James.” This isn’t the first time hoops fans have been fooled by an X account making wild claims about players. Even Fox News and veteran sportscasters such as Stephen A. Smith have fallen for such posts.
A’ja Wilson And Bam Adebayo Call Out Rachel Nichols For Awkward Question
Following A’ja Wilson’s TIME honor, the reigning league MVP mentioned Bam Adebayo as her “life partner,” suggesting that starting a family with the Miami Heat star would be like a “dream.” Veteran journalist Rachel Nichols took note and made an awkward joke, prompting both Wilson and Adebayo to react.
Speaking to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after the NBA Cup, Nichols joked about OKC general manager Sam Presti’s reported desire to discover potential talents. Nichols then took it a step further by joking that Presti would be in the doctor’s office once he found out Wilson and Adebayo were having a baby. To this, SGA replied gracefully, saying, “Sam takes his job very serious, and whatever it takes to be great, he will do.”
But A’ja Wilson clearly didn’t like this joke at all. Reacting to this through Threads, Wilson wrote,
“Y’all don’t think this is a lil strange orrrr weird…??? But I guess it’s a slow day in the office…”
Adebayo also reacted, saying, “That’s why privacy matters.”
