Clark’s Passion for Literacy Shines Bright
In addition to her commercial success, Clark has been making significant strides off the court. On her 23rd birthday, Clark announced a partnership between her foundation and Scholastic’s United States of Readers program. Together, they will donate 22,000 books to children in need across Iowa and Indiana. Clark shared in her announcement:
“Reading and education have always been hugely important in my life. I remember picking out the books from the Scholastic flyer and how empowering that was for me as a child, and how motivated I was to read. I want to help kids have the same experience, to develop their reading skills and open their imaginations to dream big.”
The donated books will benefit elementary and high schools, children’s hospitals, and nonprofit organizations. It will ensure widespread access to resources for young readers. The announcement generated a wave of positive reactions online. Arielle Chambers, a vocal advocate for women’s sports, took to X to applaud Clark’s efforts:
“The WNBA is very important.”
