Caitlin Clark left behind a legacy at Iowa. She established herself as one of the, if not the greatest of all time, in college. With the number of records she broke, she is certainly the greatest women’s basketball player ever not to win a national championship. When she left for the WNBA in 2024, she left behind an inspired Iowa team that had character and belief to compete at the highest level.
The Iowa roster with Caitlin was packed with immense talent, such as Jada Gyamfi, Hannah Stuelke, Kylie Feuerbach, Monika Czinano, Molly Davis, Sydney Affolter, Addison O’Grady, Gabbie Marshall, and Kate Martin. As Caitlin moved on to the WNBA, Martin also got drafted, and Marshall quit basketball. But the rest of the core remained intact.
Jan Jensen took over after Lisa Bluder left in 2024, and Iowa signed Lucy Olsen along with a couple of freshmen. Iowa could not go past the second round in 2024-25. This season, as well, the Hawkeyes could not go beyond the second round. They lost 75-83 to Virginia. That loss meant the end of the college careers of some of the Iowa stars. One of them was Kylie Feuerbach.
“Words will never fully encapsulate my time here at Iowa. Getting to be part of this program has been an opportunity and blessing that I’ll forever cherish. Thank you to every single person who made this the best experience I could’ve asked for,” Kylie wrote on her Instagram post.
In the comments section, a familiar name dropped a comment to show support for Kylie. Caitlin Clark commented:
“Das my roomie !!!! Love youuuuu.”
Hannah Stuelke & Jada Gyamfi Also Leave Iowa Hawkeyes
Along with Kylie, Stuelke and Gyamfi also bid farewell to the Hawkeyes. Jada Gyamfi has announced her retirement from basketball after a medical procedure on her knee.
Hannah Stuelke has declared for the WNBA Draft and is hopeful that she can make an impact on the league.
Iowa still reaped the benefits of the popularity that Caitlin Clark brought to the Hawkeyes program. It was the most popular team in women’s college basketball this season in terms of viewership. This should give a big boost and motivation to the team and players joining from next season.
