The Atlanta Dream have suddenly become a hot topic online after making a big move to acquire Angel Reese, sending two draft picks to the Chicago Sky in return. Not long after the trade, fans started buzzing about another possible move, involving Chennedy Carter.
The speculation picked up quickly when Reese followed Carter on Instagram just one day after joining the Dream.
That social media activity was enough to get fans talking, with many wondering if Reese might know something others don’t about Carter possibly landing in Atlanta.

Carter has previously represented Atlanta. The Dream selected her in the 2020 draft, and she showed flashes of talent early in her career. However, things took a turn during her second season when the team suspended her indefinitely for conduct that hurt the team environment. The issue reportedly came from a conflict with teammate Courtney Williams.
After that situation, Carter never suited up for Atlanta again. She was eventually traded to the LA Sparks before the following season, marking the end of her first stint with the Dream.
More recently, Carter had a strong run with the Chicago Sky in 2024, putting up 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Despite that production, the Sky decided not to extend her a qualifying offer, which made her an unrestricted free agent. When free agency opened, no WNBA team picked her up for the 2025 season.
She did continue playing overseas and performed well, keeping her name relevant. That is why the idea of her potentially teaming up with Reese in Atlanta has people intrigued. If it happens, a lineup featuring Reese alongside Allisha Gray, Jordin Canada, and Rhyne Howard could be one of the most exciting groups in the league.

In their lone season as teammates with the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese was still a rookie. She and Chennedy Carter quickly built strong chemistry and averaged a combined 31.1 points per game. Despite that impressive production, the team could not turn it into success, finishing ninth in the league and missing the playoffs.
