Caitlin Clark saw limited action in the WNBA last season, but her popularity continues to transcend the basketball world. Now, she’s being challenged to a pro wrestling showdown by two WWE Hall of Famers.
On the red carpet of “The Party” held by Sports Illustrated this past weekend, WWE stars Brie and Nikki Bella entertained the thought of facing off against Clark in the squared circle. When an interviewer suggested Sophie Cunningham as Clark’s tag team partner for this dream match, the Bella twins agreed that it was a good idea.
“She [Cunningham] was in an interview, and she called us out,” Nikki recalled. “She and I have shared a few DMs.”
Knowing the blockbuster potential of this crossover matchup, Nikki went on to shoot her shot as she urged the WWE’s braintrust to make a move.
“Sophie and Caitlin versus the Bellas. Book it! WrestleMania!”
On paper, a tag team match pitting Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham against the Bella twins would make a great addition to this year’s WrestleMania, a two-night wrestling extravaganza that takes place on April 18 and 19 in Las Vegas.
However, the likelihood of this match taking place is rather low, as WrestleMania is in close proximity with the typical May opening of the WNBA season. Though the tip-off of the 2026 season is still up in the air (as the league and the players’ association are still negotiating a new CBA), Clark would nevertheless be putting her health at risk by getting into the ring.
Ironically, Clark appeared at last year’s WrestleMania, albeit via video package. During the opening montage for that event in April 2025, fans saw a clip of the former Iowa Hawkeyes star doing John Cena’s “You can’t see me” hand gesture in her college heyday.
“Someone Sign Me”: Caitlin Clark Showcases Her Versatility As She Throws Football Pass in Viral Clip
While pro wrestling fans would be thrilled to see Caitlin Clark compete in the WWE someday, it appears that she’s got some aptitude for football as well.
A few weeks ago, Clark went viral for posting an Instagram story that showed her skillfully throwing a football pass.
“Someone sign me,” Clark wrote in the story’s caption.
Clips like these prove that Clark’s athleticism goes above and beyond the sport of basketball.
