WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark remains a hot topic even when she is not playing. The Indiana Fever point guard is working on her game out of the limelight, but she continues to make headlines.
On Monday, an Iowa Hawkeyes fan tweeted:
“Fun fact: Women’s College Basketball National Championship games that featured Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes had higher viewership than this year’s Super Bowl.”
During the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball championship between Clark’s Hawkeyes and Angel Reese’s LSU, viewership “peaked at 12.6 million” according to SportsPro. It was then a record as the most-watched game in men’s and women’s college sports.
The following year, Clark carried her team to the NCAA finals again. This time, they faced South Carolina for the championship. In a highly anticipated showdown won by the Gamecocks, 87-75, the game drew 18.7 million viewers, according to CNBC.
Together, the two games tallied roughly 31.3 million views.
The NFL has not yet released the viewership numbers for Super Bowl LX. However, Bad Bunny’s halftime show already drew $135.4 million views, easily outdoing the figures Caitlin Clark headlined in two NCAA championship games.
Clark’s appeal, though, is undeniable. She routinely packs arenas and increases viewership. Over the past two seasons, multiple NBA teams have had to move home games to accommodate fans who want to watch her in action.
Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty owner Joe Tsai once emphasized Caitlin Clark’s major impact in WNBA
In the “All-In Podcast” in November 2025, Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty owner Joe Tsai discussed what Caitlin Clark has brought to the WNBA.
Tsai responded when asked to comment on Clark’s impact:
“Caitlin Clark definitely had an effect on the WNBA. All metrics went up. This was last season, when she first came into the league from college. We’ve seen all our metrics from viewership to ticket sales, sponsorship, everything went up almost 4X.”
Clark played just 13 games last season due to muscle injuries, a big reason why attendance and viewership also dropped. She might not outshine the Super Bowl, but she is arguably the biggest and hottest draw in women’s basketball.
