“AT Scared of Aliyah Boston?”: Fans React as Alyssa Thomas Pulls Out of 1v1 Unrivaled Contest Against Phantom BC Star

The highly anticipated Unrivaled 1-on-1 matchup on Wednesday between Aliyah Boston and Alyssa Thomas will not happen. Thomas, who pulled out of the showdown, has been replaced by Laeticia Amihere.

Fans quickly noted Thomas’ absence, prompting one to react:

“Ummm? AT scared of Aliyah Boston? What happened fam…”

    Another fan added:

“LMAOO WHOLE TIME SHE DUCKED ALIYAH.”

    One more fan continued:

“Imo she watched what Aliyah did in the game last night and decided not worth it.”

    Another fan commented:

    “Alyssa Thomas (scared) is out.”

    One fan tweeted:

“Alyssa Thomas scared of dat belt.”

Boston and Thomas have had some testy battles in the WNBA. When they played against each other in the 2024 playoffs, their head-to-head encounters were some of the biggest highlights in the Sun-Fever series.

In Connecticut’s 2-0 sweep of Indiana, Alyssa Thomas averaged 15.5 points, 13.0 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game. Boston was nearly just as impressive, putting up 16.5 ppg, 15.0 rpg and 3.0 apg.

In the 2026 Unrivaled 3-on-3 tournament, Aliyah Boston has been putting up better numbers than Thomas. The Phantom BC star is averaging 19.9 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.7 apg, 2.0 bpg and 1.2 spg. AT, who continues to play for Laces BC, has 11.6 ppg, 7.6 rpg and 3.1 apg to her resume.

Unfortunately, basketball fans will not see the two go 1-on-1 in one of the competition’s most eagerly awaited showdowns.

Aliyah Boston Has Tough 1-on-1 Road Ahead Even Without Alyssa Thomas in Her Path

Aliyah Boston is heavily favored to emerge as the winner of her first-round matchup against Laeticia Amihere. Boston is one of Unrivaled’s best performers, while Amihere is in the reserve pool.

Assuming Boston moves on to the second round, she could face Breanna Stewart, one of the favorites to win the 1-on-1 tournament. Stewart hopes to bounce back after a first-round exit last year against Aaliyah Edwards, the eventual runner-up.

Dearica Hamby, Dominique Malonga, Shakira Austin and Edwards are all potential opponents for Boston down the line. Reaching the semifinals, let alone the finals, will be a tall task for any of the participants.

Alyssa Thomas might be out, but Aliyah Boston has her work cut out for her to go deep into the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament.
