The Las Vegas Aces have won the WNBA championship in three of the last four years. From the looks of it, the Aces are looking to extend their title dynasty by acquiring more MVP-caliber talent.
On Monday, retired WNBA player Chantel Tremitiere whipped up a storm on Threads when she interacted with fans discussing potential pieces to be added to the Aces’ roster. One fan brought up Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, but Tremitiere shot down those speculations, instead hinting that she knew the Aces’ next move.
Reacting to this wave of WNBA gossip, content creator Kee Rose put two and two together, putting a name to the blind item that Tremitiere was teasing fans with.
“WELCOME HOME NNEKA,” Kee Rose tweeted.
As it so happens, Seattle Storm forward Nneka Ogwumike is a free agent this year. Ogwumike, a one-time WNBA champion who won the WNBA MVP award in 2016, would form a fearsome frontcourt tandem with reigning MVP A’ja Wilson if the Las Vegas Aces were to acquire her services.
Ogwumike has had an incredibly busy year on and off the court. In the 2025 WNBA season, the 35-year-old veteran averaged 18.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Along with Skylar Diggins and Gabby Williams, Ogwumike helped the Storm secure a playoff spot for the second consecutive season.
The Storm’s opponent in the first round was none other than the Las Vegas Aces, who went on to defeat Seattle 75-74 in a thrilling Game 3. If the rumors are true, Ogwumike will be playing alongside Wilson this time around as the Aces seek to win another title.
Report: Ticket Prices for Las Vegas Aces-Atlanta Dream Matchup Soaring After Blockbuster Trade Involving 2x WNBA All-Star
If Ogwumike does land with the Las Vegas Aces before the season starts, she’ll have to brace herself for a blockbuster matchup right from the get-go.
On May 17, the Aces are set to take on the Atlanta Dream, who acquired two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese in a trade this week. Reportedly, the get-in prices for this game at State Farm Arena have risen from $38 to $68 after news of the Reese trade broke.
It’s possible, then, that the Dream will not be the only team on May 17 to field a newly acquired, high-profile name.
