Napheesa Collier’s teammate, Bridget Carleton, has sparked buzz about a potential move to the WNBA’s expansion team, the Toronto Tempo, with fans noting a recent change to her Instagram profile.
X user @AhaanRungta shared a picture of Carleton’s Instagram profile on the platform, noting that she had removed the Minnesota Lynx’s name and has also started following the Tempo’s president, Teresa Resch. The user claimed that her activity suggested an impending move to Toronto this summer.
Fans flooded the comments section, citing Carleton’s ties to Canada, and speculated whether a move could be underway.
Carleton has been in the WNBA for seven seasons, playing for the Connecticut Sun and the Lynx. She was traded to Minnesota during her rookie season and has grown into a fan favorite. She averages 5.7 points, 2.9 rebounds per game, shooting 41.6% and 39.1% from 3-point range for her career.
Carleton signed a two-year, $250,000 deal with the Lynx in 2024. She will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. With the WNBA expansion draft just days away, she faces an uncertain future ahead of the 2026 season. Despite her modest numbers, Carleton is an established member of Minnesota’s rotation.
Bridget Carleton makes EuroLeague history ahead of the 2026 WNBA season
With uncertainty looming over the 2026 WNBA season due to the CBA negotiations, which concluded earlier this month, Bridget Carleton took her talents to the EuroLeague this offseason.
This marked Carleton’s fourth stint in the EuroLeague and ended with her making history. During ZVVZ USK Praha’s Jan. 16 game, she drained nine 3-pointers, setting the EuroLeague single-game 3-point record. Bridget Carleton played 11 games for USK, averaging 12.6 points, shooting 48.9%, including 53.3% from 3-point range.
Carleton’s long-range shooting ability has been beneficial to the Lynx, as fans saw during last season’s playoffs. She recorded 12 points, shooting 4-for-6 from 3-point range, and finished as a +10 as the Lynx won 75-74. Napheesa Collier finished with 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
If reports of an impending move to the Tempo turn out to be true, Minnesota will be losing a valuable member of its rotation.
