Caitlin Clark has been under the keen eye of the public all her career. With the talent that she possesses it is all but natural that she grabs a lot of attention. Due to her recent altercation with Phoenix Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas, there has been a lot of discourse over Clark’s treatment among players and officials.
Many have given their verdict on Thomas’ contact on Clark. The WNBA deemed Thomas’s fist to Clark’s neck a Flagrant Foul 2 and gave the Mercury star a 1-game ban.
Some believe that she deserved a harsher punishment while some think that the contact is being further exaggerated. Sports analyst and former NFL pro Emmanuel Acho recently commented on Clark and called her a bigger distraction for the NBA than she is an additive. This rubbed fans the wrong way.
Caitlin Clark is declared unavailable indefinitely. Fever head coach Stephanie White confirmed that her return timeline depends on her day-to-day recovery. She suffered a lingering back injury against the Mercruy. She has missed Fever’s recent home game vs the Los Angeles Sparks which the Fever won 111-87.
Emmanual Acho claims WNBA would be better without Caitlin Clark
On June 29, former NFL pro appeared on the ‘Speakeasy’ podcast and talked about Caitlin Clark. He shared his untethered opinion about Clark’s impact on the league and what value she holds now.
“The W at this junction in time would be better without Caitlin Clark because she is a bigger distraction than she is an additive. Caitlin Clark has gotten the WNBA over the necessary threshold they needed. Now people are watching. Now we realize, oh, there’s talent in the W. Talent that’s actually even greater than Caitlin Clark,” he said.
“And I’m not just talking about bigs like A’ja. I’m talking about the Olivia Miles. I’m talking about the Paige Beckers. Hell, I’m talking about the Kelsey Mitchells. Caitlin got the necessary eyes there. But now that the eyes are there, we don’t necessarily need her anymore,” Acho made his bold claim (42:30).
Acho went on to say that if Clark disappeared from the WNBA, she wouldn’t really be missed.
