Several mocks for the 2026 WNBA draft have either Lauren Betts or Olivia Miles being selected with the No. 1 pick. Betts has emerged as a favorite in multiple mock drafts following the UCLA Bruins’ triumph in the NCAA Tournament.

Meanwhile, Miles has been featured prominently in mock drafts with her production for the TCU Horned Frogs. Miles and TCU reached the tournament’s Elite 8 round before being eliminated by the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Betts and Miles both shared their feelings on the upcoming WNBA draft.

“I don’t have control of that, but I feel like why I should join any team, I think, is because I am a competitor. You can ask anybody, I’m kind of crazy,” Betts said. “I work really hard on both ends of the floor. I’ll be a sponge. I’ll learn from everybody, learn from the best. I just work really hard, so I’m really excited.”

Miles also answered, pointing to her versatility and confidence as a player.

“I think the versatility that I bring is second to none and I say that with confidence because I know and trust in my game and myself,” Miles said. “I think you won’t find a better player who makes the people around them better. Ultimately, it’s out of my hands. I can only campaign and petition for myself, but I think the film and my teammates, if you were to ask them to speak, speaks for itself.”

WNBA Draft 2026: International prospect could overtake Lauren Betts and Olivia Miles at No. 1

While Lauren Betts and Olivia Miles both have strong cases to justify picking them at No. 1, Spanish center Awa Fam has also made a case to be picked first in the WNBA draft. The 6-foot-6 center has been highly touted by the media and brings significant international experience playing against professional players.

Fam broke onto the scene at the 2022 FIBA Under-17 World Cup, averaging 10.7 points and 9.9 rebounds for Spain, even leading her national team past the United States in the gold medal game. Her performance in the 2025 EuroBasket tournament and FIBA World Cup qualifiers has also contributed to the hype around her.

Several mock drafts, including The Athletic’s, have Fam projected to be picked at No. 1 by the Dallas Wings.
