The Indiana Fever look to bounce back after a tough 107-104 loss in the season opener at the hands of the Dallas Wings on Friday, when hosting the Los Angeles Sparks in their first road game of the season.

The Fever had some standout performances in their season opener, with veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell leading the way with 30 points, as well as Aliyah Boston adding 23 points and Caitlin Clark scoring 20 points in her first WNBA action after an injury layoff. Makayla Timpson also had 11 points. The rest of the team struggled defensively as they came up short in the season opener. A much-needed bounce-back will be required from the Fever lineup outside the big three if they want to take their first win of the season.

And for the Sparks, it was an absolute gut punch as they lost 105-78 against the Las Vegas Aces at home on Sunday. In the bigger picture, a much larger concern than the loss is the performance of Cameron Brink, who found herself at the center of nearly every key mistake that swung the game in the Aces’ favor. She finished the game with just 3 rebounds and 3 turnovers in limited minutes and sat the remainder of the game on the bench.

If Brink wants to justify her role as LA’s long-term No. 1 defensive presence, games like this have to become a thing of the past. Kelsey Plum had a team-high 27 points, while Nneka Ogwumike and Dearica Hamby also finished in double figures. They’ll need a stronger response in their game against the Fever.
