What Happened to Olivia Miles vs LA Sparks? Know More About Lynx Star’s Injury Update

On Wednesday, Olivia Miles played for the Minnesota Lynx during their home showdown against the Los Angeles Sparks. However, the fanbase was left concerned following an incident involving the rookie point guard.

In the fourth quarter of the game, it looked like Miles rolled her ankle during a play. She fell to the ground and stayed there for a while. In a video shared on social media, we see the rookie guard being helped off the court by the coaching staff.

Olivia Miles did not return for the rest of the game. Despite this, the Minnesota Lynx secured a 96-87 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. The rookie guard played for 26 minutes and scored 18 points with four rebounds and five assists. This victory helped the team improve to a 19-6 record.

Following the victory, fans got a positive update on Miles’ situation. According to a tweet by reporter Ahmad Hicks, Olivia Miles’ injury might not be too concerning.

Hicks shared two clips of the rookie star after the game. In one of the videos, we see her celebrating the win with the team by doing the Lynx’s iconic “Electric Slide” on the court. In the other clip, Miles could be seen walking down the tunnel normally without any limp.

“Take a deep breath. Things appear to be good enough to dance for Olivia Miles. Lynx secure yet another home win. 96-87 over the Sparks,” Hicks wrote.

Olivia Miles made a name for herself during her collegiate stint with Notre Dame and TCU. After high school, she signed with the Fighting Irish in 2021. During her freshman campaign, she played in six games and averaged 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Miles spent five seasons with Notre Dame. However, she did not play during the 2023-24 campaign due to a season-ending injury. In March 2025, she decided to enter the transfer portal and join the TCU Horned Frogs.

Olivia Miles put up an impressive campaign with her new team. She played in 38 games and averaged 19.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 6.6 apg. TCU made March Madness as the Big 12 regular-season champions.

However, they were eliminated by South Carolina in the Elite Eight. Miles was named the Big 12 Player of the Year for her performance. She then declared for this year’s WNBA draft, where the Minnesota Lynx selected her with the No. 2 overall pick.

Sue Bird has high praise for Olivia Miles

Olivia Miles’ debut campaign with the Lynx has been impressive so far.

Before Wednesday’s game against the Sparks, retired four-time WNBA champion Sue Bird had nothing but praise for the rookie.

“Not every kid coming out of college knows exactly who they are as a basketball player,” Bird said on ‘WNBA Showtime.’ “Some are still figuring it out. She went through a lot, whether it was her decision to go from Notre Dame to TCU to stay that fifth year.

“She just has gone through enough in her life as a basketball player where she believes in herself and her decisions.

The Lynx have another home game this weekend, facing the Portland Fire on Saturday.
