“We’ll Get There”: Paige Bueckers Jokes Wings Will Get Li Yueru Up To Speed With Trash Talking

The Dallas Wings are having one of their best seasons in recent years, but Paige Bueckers believes there is still something to be worked on. After the team added another win to its streak on Sunday against the Chicago Sky, 96-91, the media had a query about Li Yueru and her ability to talk trash.

Bueckers is on her way to an MVP-caliber season, averaging and leading the Wings this season with 20.7 points and 6.3 assists. Wings backup center Yueru also had a big game against the Sky, scoring a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. After the matchup, the media had an unrelated question, but the Chinese center cracked everyone in the room with her answer.

When a media person asked Yueru whether she talked trash to somebody, she expressed her issues with the language and said:

“I speak different language, so when I realized she talked trash to me, it’s already next possession.”

As both Bueckers and Yueru got up to leave the room, the Wings’ leader set another goal for this season and said:

    “We’ll get there.”

Not only scoring, but Yueru also had a big impact on defense. Her size allows her to box bigger players in the paint and grab rebounds effectively. She contained Kamilla Cardoso below the basket and led the bench.

Paige Bueckers leads the Wings to another win

Besides Li Yueru, Paige Bueckers had a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists, shooting 7-15 from the floor. Moreover, Arike Ogunbowale’s absence has not thrown her off her game this season, which is a good sign for the team. Meanwhile, Azzi Fudd’s help has also given her a new wave of confidence.

Fudd scored 16 points in 35 minutes and acts as the pick-and-roll replacement when Bueckers is out on the bench. Meanwhile, Jessica Shepard’s constant efforts and ability to score help the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year space the floor and make her completely unpredictable. The Wings will next face the New York Liberty again after defeating them, 88-77, on July 7.
