“The Hate on CC Is Too Real”: Fans React as Caitlin Clark’s Ex-Teammate Sydney Colson Disagrees With Alyssa Thomas’ Punishment

Caitlin Clark has been on everyone’s minds in the WNBA lately. Another controversy struck when the Indiana Fever faced the Phoenix Mercury for the second time in two days on June 25. The Mercury won 111-109, but one incident between Alyssa Thomas and Clark went viral and needed WNBA’s official involvement.

Thomas put her fist to Clark’s neck while trying to win the ball. As Clark fell down, Thomas did too and that’s when the contact happened. The contact was deemed to be flagrant foul 2 and Thomas was issued a one-game ban by the WNBA upon post-game review. Clark’s former Fever teammate Sydney Colson recently appeared on ESPN’s WNBA Countdown and disagreed with the ruling.

Some fans did not like her stand, while others did.

“Blah blah blah! The hate in CC is too real,” one fan claimed.

“I’ve never seen an entire league hate on their superstar so much. It’s wild,” one fan stated.

“I’m a CC fan but AT is having fun out there, can’t knock the hustle or her playing style,” one fan supported Thomas and Colson.

“Syd was on the Fever last too so let’s actually listen to what she’s saying folks,” another fan advocated.

“This was the most honest take on this from all sides,” another said.

“That’s wild. They hate CC,” another commented.

“When it’s not a basketball play it’s a flagrant. These tricks are haters,” another fan voiced his opinion.

Colson analyzed the incident and thought that it got way worse after the game. She said that nobody reacted during the game in real time and even Caitlin Clark got up and ran down the court after the altercation.

“Do I think it was a flagrant? Not at all. But I also grew up in an era where it’s very physical. And this was the least of what I would consider a flagrant, too,” Colson gave her verdict (3:26).

She also said that the referees need to be hyper vigilant to take quick decisions during the games. Especially for certain matchups, she demands that officials be running toward the incident to stop things from escalating and protecting the players.
