Caitlin Clark was once again in the middle of a controversy. The Indiana Fever faced the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday, July 16, where they lost by a score of 88-75. One incident during the game made the rounds on the internet.
An altercation involving Clark led to another controversy around refereeing decisions. A fan noticed an apparent bruise on Clark’s knee. Fans were divided on whether the foul call should’ve been made or not.
The Iowa Hawkeyes posted a picture where Clark posed with the her former coach Lisa Bluder and the team’s current head coach, Jan Jensen.
Controversy around Caitlin Clark’s no foul call
During the game, Clark drove with the ball towards the rim to make the layup. As she made the shot, Valkyries’ Kiah Stokes tried to defend and collided with Clark. The Fever star took a tumble after taking a hit to her quad.
The referee did not judge that to be a foul. Clark was limping after the contact and was angry at the officials. She later addressed the contact and said it was ridiculous that referees did not call a foul.
