After Robert Griffin III made his feelings known on the whole Caitlin Clark vs A’ja Wilson debate, journalist Jemele Hill has come out with a response of her own, and it appears she doesn’t exactly agree with the former NFL star’s take.
Griffin claims that Caitlin Clark is indeed the face of the WNBA. Hill believes that A’ja Wilson is at a different level, making it clear that while Caitlin Clark is great, she isn’t quite where she needs to be just yet.
“The standard for winning is A’ja. Michael Jordan became the face of the NBA because he became the standard by which every player is measured. Everyone wanted to stop him. Caitlin isn’t there,” Hill wrote.
Robert Griffin III’s Comments Explained
Robert Griffin III painstakingly explained his own reasoning behind why there appears to be a difference of opinion between fans and players on who the real standard is in WNBA, believing that fans think Caitlin Clark is the face because of the interest she has brought in, but players aren’t ready to accept it yet because she hasn’t won the big trophies.
The debate has undoubtedly created some segmentation in beliefs, but Caitlin Clark doesn’t seem to be letting it bother her as she put on a record tally of 45 points in her most recent outing for the Indiana Fever, and will have more points in sight as she runs out for the Fever again later today.
