Sparks HC Publicly Calls Out Cameron Brink After Worst 8-Minute Game Of Her WNBA Career

Cameron Brink was limited to eight minutes of action as her Los Angeles Sparks were blown out by the Las Vegas Aces in their season opener on Sunday. The Sparks lost 105-78.

Brink struggled in the matchup, finishing with three rebounds, three turnovers and three fouls, leading to limited time on the floor. Speaking after the game, coach Lynne Roberts addressed Brink’s minutes in the matchup.

“We need Cam to produce… She’s gotta get out on the floor with some confidence and do what she’s capable of doing,” Roberts said.

    She continued:

“We’re gonna need Cam. She’s gonna be a big part of our success, and have every bit of belief in her.”

Cameron Brink, who was the No. 2 pick of the 2024 draft, missed 13 months of action after suffering a torn ACL in June 2024. She has played 34 games through her first two seasons in the league, averaging 6.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

Brink played for the Breeze BC in the Unrivaled league this season, averaging 10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks through 13 games.

Kelsey Plum led the scoring for Los Angeles on Sunday, finishing with 27 points, four rebounds and two assists, shooting 10-for-18, including 4-for-8 from 3-point range.

Cameron Brink faces significant criticism after a lackluster performance in Sparks’ season opener

Fans reacted to Cameron Brink’s performance in Sunday’s game on social media with criticism for the 6-foot-4 forward. Some fans suggested that she is too focused on modeling, while others questioned her worth as a No. 2 pick. Here are the most noteworthy reactions on X:

“#2 draft pick still hasn’t proven she should have been drafted that high. Too busy forcing on her modeling career,” one fan said.

“Brink is just the white version of Reese. Except Reese, as awful as she plays, is 10x better than Brink,” another fan said.

“More time in the gym working on the game, less time at the Met and making TikTok dances working on the brand,” one fan wrote.

“She’s too focused on her modeling career tbh,” another fan wrote.

“She cares more about fashion than basketball,” a fan commented.

After dropping their season opener to the Aces, the Sparks will return to action on Wednesday against Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever.
