Chicago Sky vs Golden State Valkyries Projected Starting Lineups and Injury Reports Tonight (May 13) | 2026 WNBA Season

The Chicago Sky are in Golden State to play the Valkyries Wednesday at Chase Center, and the Sky need a win badly. Chicago comes into this game having lost all three games played last season. This matchup will be a strong test for the Sky, as they will need to battle not just the Valkyries but also the arena atmosphere.

Tonight’s game will be Golden State’s third overall and second home game of the season. The Valkyries’ home record was one of the most intimidating in the league last season, as they went 14-8 at home. A game that should feature plenty of emotion, the new-look Sky will need their players at their best if they want to leave with a victory.

For the Sky, this is their second road game and they will play two more before they get a chance to host their home opener. In the opening game, they beat the Portland Fire 98-83 on Sunday. All the starters scored in double figures, led by Kamilla Cardoso who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. New free-agent signings Skylar Diggins, Rickea Jackson and Jacy Sheldon added 21, 19 and 13 points respectively. Rookie Gabriela Jaquez had a strong debut with 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Valkyries, on the other hand, have opened the season 2-0. After beating the Seattle Storm 91-80 in the season opener, they returned home to host the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday. A night that seemed like it would end in defeat turned into a momentous 95-79 win. The Valkyries turned a seven-point deficit into a 12-point advantage as they went on a 33-8 run in the second half, which proved to be the turning point of the game.

Golden State was led by Janelle Salaün’s 21 points. Kayla Thornton and Gabby Williams posted 19 points each, while Veronica Burton had a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists. Laeticia Amihere tallied 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Expectations for the Valkyries are different for 2026 after gaining Kate Martin, as the team will be aiming to make back-to-back playoff appearances as a two-year-old franchise. Even so, they still have a handful of intriguing name players who could make an impact on the team’s position in the standings if they play their cards right.
