Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark had several iconic battles during her time in college basketball. Whether it was during Big Ten conference play or in the national tournament, Clark became a fan favorite for the way she led the Iowa Hawkeyes. As a result, Clark also garnered many rivals. These include the South Carolina Gamecocks and former LSU Tigers center Angel Reese.
Another player who recently named Clark as one of her biggest rivals was Chicago Sky guard Jacy Sheldon. On Tuesday, July 14, in a post by sports journalist Landon Buford, Sheldon was asked in an interview during a Sky practice session about her favorite memory as a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Surprisingly, Sheldon’s answer was when her team beat Clark and the Hawkeyes in overtime.
Women’s basketball fans and spectators point out that Sheldon was never fond of Clark in during their years in college hoops.
“She’s always hated Clark. Clark lives rent free in her head 😂,” one fan said with a laughing emoji.
Other users all over X/Twitter give their thoughts as to why Sheldon used the Buckeyes’ double overtime win over Clark and the Hawkeyes as her answer.
The game Sheldon was discussing occurred back in late January of 2024 during conference play. The Buckeyes outlasted the Iowa-based program in overtime by eight points, 100-92. In that game, Clark dropped 45 points, including seven three-pointers, three rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block. Meanwhile, Sheldon had 24 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
Jacy Sheldon Said That The Ohio State Buckeyes’ Win Over The Iowa Hawkeyes Had The Most Spectators Ever
Also in the interview, Jacy Sheldon felt that the overtime victory over Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes was watched by the most spectators in the Ohio State Buckeyes’ arena ever. The regular season game was hosted by the Buckeyes at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. According to
ESPN, there were around 18,660 spectators in attendance.
“Oh man, we have a lot of them. I’d say our Iowa game. We played Iowa at home, and that was the most people we’ve ever had in our arena. We won in double overtime, so that’s probably one of my favorite memories,” Sheldon said. (0:08)
Sheldon is currently in her third year in the WNBA, first with the Chicago Sky, after she was drafted with the fifth pick in the 2024 draft.
