Paige Bueckers Joins Exclusive Club With 7x WNBA All-Star After 5th Straight 20-Point Game on 50% Shooting

Paige Bueckers has been on a roll over the past five games. The Dallas Wings star has averaged 24.8 points and 5.8 assists, shooting 57.3% from the field. Bueckers recorded at least 20 points in each game while shooting 50.0% or better.

According to ESPN, the phenomenal streak saw the former No. 1 pick match the 2003 season run of seven-time WNBA All-Star Katie Smith, who also had five straight games of 20 points on 50.0% shooting.

ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported this on Sunday after Bueckers torched the Toronto Tempo with a 22-point, seven-assist game, while shooting 56.3% from the field and leading the Wings to an 89-76 win.

“Via ESPN Research: Paige Bueckers has scored at least 20 points and shot at least 50% from the field in five straight games, tying Katie Smith in 2003 for the longest such streak by a guard in WNBA history,” Philippou wrote on X.

Bueckers’ efficiency has been the hallmark of her terrific season thus far, averaging 20.3 ppg on 52.7% shooting. She’s one of three players averaging at least 20 points on 50.0% shooting this season, alongside A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum.

Wilson is averaging 25.7 ppg on 52.4% shooting, while Plum is averaging 23.9 ppg on 52.7% shooting. Bueckers and Plum are the only guards to record these stats.

Paige Bueckers justifies her No. 1 ranking among guards in the 2026 WNBA season

Paige Bueckers is justifying her status as the best guard in the WNBA. She was voted first in player and fan rankings after making it as an All-Star starter. The media ranked Bueckers second and Olivia Miles first. However, the Wings superstar’s cumulative ranking (1.25) saw her take the top spot.

It’s becoming difficult to argue that, especially amid her five-game 20-point streak. While matching Katie Smith’s 2003 record, Bueckers also recorded the longest active streak of scoring 20 points in a game this season. The Wings have gone 3-2 in that span and are 13-8 overall amid a potential first-team All WNBA caliber year from their leading player.

One of Bueckers’ other special records this season was becoming the second-fastest player after Diana Taurasi (2013) to score 400-plus points and dish 100-plus assists.

The Wings will hope her special run continues on Tuesday against the New York Liberty, who have been in solid form over the past two games, registering blowout wins over the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Lynx.

In her last game against New York on May 24, Bueckers had 24 points on 7 of 13 shots with six rebounds in a 91-76 win.
