Angel Reese has always been walked and talked with confidence. On Monday, the Atlanta Dream star brought this strength of character as she wowed onlookers at the Met Gala.
In an interview on the Met Gala carpet, Reese doubled down on her strong belief in her capabilities.
“I’m really confident within myself. Nobody can tell me I’m not that girl…I’m just so thankful for this life and being able to have this opportunity.”
Angel Reese, who has dealt with plenty of online negativity and advocated for anti-cyberbullying efforts, also acknowledged her responsibility of blazing a trail for other women.
“All the women I saw out there earlier today, hopefully they know they have a space in this industry.”
Reese’s participation in the Met Gala comes just days before the new WNBA season tips off. Just 24 hours prior to this fashion extravaganza in New York City, Reese was putting the work in during a Dream-Mystics preseason game. In 11 minutes of action, the two-time WNBA All-Star had 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
The Dream may have lost to the Mystics on Sunday, but the bigger picture is their readiness for the 2026 campaign. With Reese set to play her first regular season games against Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada, and Naz Hillmon, the Dream are looking to bounce back from their first-round exit last year and go on an even deeper playoff run.
“I Got My Nails Done on Saturday”: Angel Reese Talks About Whirlwind 48 Hours Prior to Met Gala
As if playing in a preseason game wasn’t exhausting enough, Angel Reese took part in the Dream’s media day on the morning of Met Gala.
Speaking to members of the WNBA’s social media team, Reese offered a glimpse of her whirlwind 48-hour schedule.
“I got my nails done on Saturday and my toes done. That was the easy part. And then yesterday, we had a game, so I still had my protective style.”
Reese added that, after the Dream-Mystics game, she “pulled up” at her stylist’s shop and got her hair done for the Met Gala.
