If there was ever a tight-knit group in the 2025 WNBA season, it would be the Indiana Fever, whose players have well-documented bonding moments on and off the court. Even as the WNBA offseason rages on, the Fever’s many colorful characters continue to band together in distinct ways.

Case in point: When 2025 second-round pick Makayla Timpson had her high school jersey retired, Fever players were generous with their praise for the 23-year-old forward. Lexie Hull sent celebratory emojis while Sophie Cunningham had some fire emojis to share on Instagram.

Aliyah Boston went so far as to share Timpson’s IG post on the jersey retirement.

“congratsss babesss,” Boston wrote in the caption for her IG story.

Timpson, a native of Edison, Georgia, made a name for herself at Early County High School three hours away from Atlanta. Thanks to her stellar play at Early County, Timpson caught the eye of Florida State, where she spent her college days.

After averaging 13.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game in her college stint, Timpson was selected 19th overall by the Fever in the 2025 WNBA draft. Timpson, who signed a three-year, $217,640 contract with Indiana, played just 7.1 minutes per game in her rookie season and chipped in 2.6 ppg and 1.8 rpg.

In the offseason following the 2025 WNBA playoffs, Timpson signed with USK Praha, a ball club that competes in the Czech Women’s Basketball League. With the current CBA impasse between the WNBA and the players’ union, there’s no telling when Timpson will see action in her mother league once again. Still, the Fever players that she teamed up with last season continue to have her back.

“Their Chemistry Was Really Good”: Analyst Makes Case for Indiana Fever to “Run It Back” in 2026

For what it’s worth, WNBA analyst Rachel DeMita holds the Fever’s on-court dynamic in high regard. In a clip from her “Courtside Club” podcast, DeMita said that the Fever need to preserve as much of their 2025 roster as they can.

I would love to see a “run it back” situation with the Indiana Fever. It seems like their chemistry was really good. They didn’t have locker room issues, especially in the second half of the season.

Outside some turmoil encountered with DeWanna Bonner in the first half of the 2025 season, the Fever remained a strong collective unit. Overcoming the season-ending injuries suffered by Caitlin Clark and a number of other players, the Fever went as far as the second round of the playoffs and pushed the eventual champions Las Vegas Aces to five games.
