LaVar Ball is known for his NBA sons, LaMelo Ball and Lonzo Ball, his unfiltered takes, and this time, Ball targeted Caitlin Clark. Though he never played in the NBA, he played in college for Washington State University in the 1978-88 season. Besides, he is also seen in multiple podcasts in addition to his own. In his recent appearance, he presented a big challenge for Clark and Shaquille O’Neal.
While featuring on the rapid fire round of the Monday episode of One Night with Steiny, Ball believed that he could take both Clark and Shaq in one-on-one matchups:
“Ain’t no way in hell a girl would ever beat me”
While Clark is a talented youngster who will certainly enjoy a successful tenure in the league, the 4-time NBA champion is one of the legends of the sport and arguably the most dominant players ever. Given Ball’s basketball career, the challenge looks more like a hilarious take.
Clark’s Team Spoon won the All-Star game on Sunday, as she and the Fever look to continue their dominant run.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar criticized Caitlin Clark for being called the face of the league
Former NBA player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar expressed his thoughts on the popular face of the WNBA debate in his Substack article on July 14. He said that calling Clark the face wouldn’t be justified, considering Michael Jordan’s global impact. He wrote:
“Don’t get me wrong: Clark is a very good, possibly even a great, player. But calling any one player the face of the league, absent the sort of on-court and cross-platform dominance of a Michael Jordan or a LeBron James, is an insult to an awful lot of great players.”
This is not the first time Clark has seen comparisons with someone like Jordan. Her impact on the WNBA is often compared to what the 6-time NBA champion brought to the NBA.
Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark’s performance and on-court personality have met with divided opinions among fans. She has looked great in the last few games and will look to continue that form to win some more games for the Fever.
