A’ja Wilson and Angel Reese had a blast at the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, but analyst Jason Whitlock had no love lost for what he saw this weekend. On Monday’s episode of his “Fearless” podcast, Whitlock ridiculed the appearance of Reese as she pulled up to United Center.
“Angel Reese, the WNBA’s would-be box office star, showed up to the league’s biggest showcase of the year, dressed for a bachelorette party, full Barbie costume, pink wig. The only thing missing was a sash that said, ‘Not the Bride.'”
Whitlock then turned his attention to Wilson, who was not spared from his scathing remarks.
“Not to be outdone, the league’s best player A’ja Wilson, four-time MVP, apparently drove directly from the beauty supply store to the United Center. Because whatever was on top of A’ja Wilson’s head Saturday night, that was not a wig. That was the mane of Secretariat.”
Going beyond individual criticism, Whitlock went on to blast the All-Star Game itself.
According to Whitlock, the game turned out to have the same flaw as the All-Star exhibitions of other leagues: the lack of competitive spirit.
“The WNBA had a golden opening, a real genuine wide open door to walk through and say, we’re different. We compete…Rather than competing, they chose entitlement. Rather than distinguishing themselves, they chose to out-diva the men.”
Though Whitlock was displeased with the way the All-Star Game turned out, a winner was crowned nevertheless. Wilson, who scored 12 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field, helped lead Team Spoon to a 129-122 victory over Team Coop. Reese, meanwhile, put up no points but tallied five rebounds and four assists.

One viral clip from the All-Star Game shows A’ja Wilson getting an unintended shot block on a fastbreak layup attempt from Angel Reese. After altering Reese’s shot, Wilson covered her mouth as she struggled to contain her laughter.
After the game, Wilson addressed this lighthearted situation.
“Angel was not supposed to do that. I was trying to get out of the way. I do not like to block shots during All-Star Games because, what am I doing? So yeah, I’ve never had that happen to me, and I’m so sorry.”
Wilson and Reese had a good laugh in that sequence, but for critics like Whitlock, moments like those only fuel their criticism against All-Star games in general.
