Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark said that she was “scared” after seeing Stephanie White at Wednesday’s media session ahead of training camp.
Clark shared a picture of White on Instagram, which shows the coach wearing the Fever’s full practice gear, the same as her players. Clark captioned the image:
“Why is she in the full practice fit? I’m scared.”

This would not be White’s first time in an Indiana Fever jersey, having spent four seasons with the team as a player. She played 112 games, averaging 6.1 points, 2.0 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game.
White returned to the team in 2014 for her first stint as the head coach, leading them to the WNBA Finals in 2015. She was reappointed at the end of 2024 and led them to the WNBA semifinals, despite dealing with an injury-depleted roster.
Stephanie White sets two goals for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever ahead of the 2026 WNBA season
While winning the 2026 WNBA Championship remains the Indiana Fever’s ultimate goal, coach Stephanie White has also outlined two goals she wishes to see the team achieve en route to a potential title run.
“I think we were like fifth in the league in pace, and we want to be in the top two or three,” White said. “We want to play faster. We’ll look and see what we have in combinations and what we can do in the quartercourt, but I think more than anything, we want to be a bear on the defensive end of the floor. We want to be in the top three in the league in defense, and we want to play with more pace.”
With Clark returning to take her place in the offense, her playmaking could see the Fever be faster and more decisive.
Moreover, Aliyah Boston, Cunningham and Lexie Hull will have their hands full, trying to impact the team on the defensive end. No. 10 pick Raven Johnson is also expected to uplift the team on that end.
Boston was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Unrivaled League’s second season and will look to carry that form into the 2026 WNBA season.
