Flau’jae Johnson Drops 4-Word Reaction After Dropping 24 and 11 on Angel Reese’s Dream in First WNBA Duel

Flau’jae Johnson got the best of former teammate Angel Reese as the Seattle Storm beat the Atlanta Dream. Johnson used to enjoy Reese’s company. The two were tight when they played together for the LSU Tigers, winning a championship together.

On Saturday night, though, Johnson was the enemy. And she got the best of her former teammate in their first WNBA duel to lock up a 105-90 win for the Storm.

Johnson played a major role in the Storm’s win, coming up big in the contest. She led the team with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. She also made 9 of 12 shots, including two 3-pointers.

After the game, she dropped a four-word reaction to celebrate the win.

“God is so amazing,” she wrote on X.

This is Johnson’s first-ever back-to-back 20+ point game. She scored a career-high 28 points in the 99-88 win over the New York Liberty on Thursday, which ended the Storm’s franchise-record 11-game losing streak.

The Storm had been struggling and slipping out of rhythm over the past several weeks, but Johnson stepped up in a big way in the last two games.

This win also marks the Storm’s first back-to-back victories of the season, while for the Dream, it is their first three-game consecutive loss. The Dream entered the contest after losing back-to-back games against the Golden State Valkyries. Johnson’s former teammate, Reese, had 17 points and nine rebounds in the loss.

Flau’jae Johnson and Angel Reese had an awkward moment in their first matchup as pros

Everyone knows the top storyline on Saturday will inevitably revolve around Flau’jae Johnson meeting her former teammate, Angel Reese. Little did they know that they would find themselves at the center of a viral clip.

During the closing seconds of the game, Johnson attempted to shake hands with Reese, but the Dream forward seemingly walked right past, leaving her hanging in the viral video.

While it made for a viral clip, both have yet to clarify what happened. The two shared a strong bond during their time at LSU, but for whatever reason, they have seemingly not been on good terms lately.

But apart from that, both are also having an excellent year. Johnson is averaging 12.3 points and 5.2 rebounds while leading the team in steals and blocks. As for Reese, who was traded to Atlanta this offseason, she is producing Defensive Player of the Year numbers. She is averaging a double-double of 14.7 points and 11.8 rebounds this season.

The two former LSU stars are some of the best young talents in the WNBA and will be competing in many more battles for years to come.
