“Disgusting behavior”: Fans Accuse Aces Of Stat Padding As Rae Burrell Suffers Injury In Closing Seconds Of Decided Game

The Las Vegas Aces faced off against the Los Angeles Sparks for the third time this season. The last meeting ended in a 101-95 win for the Sparks on May 24, but this time, the Aces were out for revenge, and they got it.

It was a tough night for the Sparks but a great one for the Aces. Las Vegas outshot Los Angeles 31-of-69 from the field, while the Sparks struggled at 20-of-65 without Kelsey Plum, leading to a 79-69 victory for the Aces.

The story was all about A’ja Wilson. The reigning WNBA MVP put in another dominant performance, finishing with a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds while adding five blocks and three steals.

Wilson, who entered the season behind several stars in the MVP conversation, has now put herself firmly back in the driver’s seat. Her chances of winning the award for a fifth time are very much alive. However, some fans had different thoughts and even accused the Aces of purposely boosting Wilson’s stats to give her an edge.

Las Vegas was leading by as many as 10 points in the closing minutes of the game when Sparks guard Rae Burrell twisted her ankle on the final possession. Some fans noted that the Aces appeared more focused on getting Wilson additional stats than checking on Burrell, who was down injured on the floor.

The Aces attempted two three-pointers in the dying seconds while Burrell remained on the court, which drew criticism from some fans.

“Look at the fake MVP. A’Whistle took a last second three while another player is lying on the ground hurting and the game is already won. Call me shocked, the statpadder doing her work again!” one fan pointed out.

“Man, what poor sportsmanship,” another fan wrote.

“I hate that organization and their players so bad. Ewww,” another wrote.

“One of the many reasons why the players in that franchise are just not likable,” another said.

While it was a good win for the Aces, who have now moved into third place in the standings after bouncing back from consecutive losses, the Sparks have now dropped back-to-back games without Kelsey Plum.

Although Rae Burrell had a career-high 22 points, Los Angeles clearly missed Plum’s leadership and offensive production on the court. The Sparks will have little time to lick their wounds. They’re right back in action on Friday when they host the Dallas Wings.

A’ja Wilson Passes Sylvia Fowles For Major WNBA Feat

WNBA records continue to fall at the hands of A’ja Wilson this season. Her latest milestone came on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Wilson recorded her third career game with at least 25 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks, surpassing the legendary Sylvia Fowles for the most such games in WNBA history.

It is undoubtedly a remarkable achievement for Wilson, especially considering that Fowles is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play in the WNBA.

Wilson has been on another level to start the season. She is averaging 24.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
