WNBA fans criticized Draymond Green’s comments about Caitlin Clark’s impact on the league’s viewership, made during a guest appearance on Aliyah Boston and Candace Parker’s “Post Moves” podcast.
Green appeared on the show on April 29 and attributed Clark’s flashy style of play to the WNBA’s growing viewership, likening her to his Golden State Warriors teammate, Steph Curry.
“There’s always a lot of flak, or how much recognition, if you will, or credit, if you will, that Caitlin Clark deserves for the viewership of the WNBA. And how much isn’t her, right? And I’m not here to debate that, I don’t really care. What I am gonna say is her shooting threes across half-court was one thing that [fans] could see and be like, ‘Oh my God, that’s like Steph! Oh, I can see that! Oh my god, wow, did y’all see that? Let more of us look now,’” Green said.
Fans criticized Green’s comments on social media, with some arguing that his framing undervalued Clark’s broader impact on the WNBA.
Draymond Green recognized Caitlin Clark as the “face” of the WNBA
While fans have criticized Green for allegedly minimizing Caitlin Clark’s impact on the WNBA, he has publicly recognized her position in the league. In August 2025, Green was asked to name the face of the WNBA on Threads.
“Caitlin Clark. No question,” Green answered.
Green also publicly called for Clark’s inclusion in the 2024 Team USA squad.
“I think Caitlin Clark should have been on the USA Team. It’s great for the brand. We talk brand any other time, let’s not act like it doesn’t matter now,” Green said at the time.
While Clark was not chosen to represent Team USA in 2024, she made her debut for the senior team in March 2026. She will also travel with the team for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
