“Don’t Come Talk to Me”: A’ja Wilson Jokingly Dismisses Aces HC Becky Hammon on the Sidelines

Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson’s relationship with her coach, Becky Hammon, continues to become as close as ever. Hammon became the main shot-caller for the Las Vegas-based franchise back in the 2022 WNBA season. Since then, Wilson has been her No. 1 option, and they have won the 2022, 2023, and 2025 championships. This year, they are attempting to win back-to-back league titles.

Unfortunately for Hammon, she did not have Wilson active during the 2026 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final against the New York Liberty. Wilson suffered a leg injury during their prior regular-season game against the Chicago Sky. But Wilson did have an in-game interview as Hammon and company faced the Liberty.
During a timeout, Hammon tried to mess with Wilson, but the latter hilariously dismissed her, as heard in the broadcast.

“ Becky, don’t come talk to me. Becky’s about to…Don’t come talk to me,” Wilson said to Hammon. (0:05)

Unfortunately for the Aces, they lost to New York in the Commissioner’s Cup title game by eight points, 93-85. Still, Hammon and Wilson are optimistic moving forward, especially when the latter returns to full health. So far in the current campaign, they have uncorked an overall record of 14-5. Wilson is listed as day-to-day on her return, and Hammon will have to rely on the rest of the Aces for now.

A’ja Wilson detailed how the Las Vegas Aces will deal with her absence

Later on her in-game interview, A’ja Wilson was asked about how the Las Vegas Aces will deal with her absence in such a high-stakes game. Playing any game without a superstar-caliber player like Wilson is a major adjustment for any team, let alone during a game like the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final. Still, Wilson believed that her teammates would fill the void at the right time.

“ I think it’s all of us, and we said that. It’s gonna take all of us. Obviously, I hate I can’t be out there, but you know, man down, man up. And, I think it’s each and every last individual out there on that court just believing that they can do what they do when we need them to do it the most. But, obviously, we’re gonna look to see Jackie Young kind of come alive here, but I think the energy just coming off of each individual,” Wilson shared. (0:55)
