Did Chicago Sky Waive Natasha Cloud? Debunking Viral Rumor After Veteran’s Missed Game Winner vs Aces

Natasha Cloud’s missed game-winner against the Las Vegas Aces seemed to have broken the hearts of several Chicago fans. The Sky lost their first game against the Aces, 99-107, and had an opportunity to tie the season series in the next one. However, Cloud, who was standing in the corner, shooting 2-4 from deep, shot an air ball with seven seconds to go in regulation. And the fans’ heartbreak was evident.

On X, a fan posted a bizarre claim and wrote:

“The Chicago Sky have waived guard Natasha Cloud.”

However, the update was seemingly false, as neither the team nor the player has made any such announcement. It looked like a fan’s frustration with Cloud after her missed game-winner led the game to overtime, where the Sky lost another matchup by eight points, 90-98.

Meanwhile, NaLyssa Smith led the Aces in the absence of A’ja Wilson with 29 points and eight rebounds. Four starters scored more than 15 points, as the squad seems to have adjusted well to the superstar’s absence due to her ankle injury.

“There’s growth,” Natasha Cloud earlier talked about her improvement as a player

Natasha Cloud remained unsigned for an extended period in free agency after the New York Liberty decided not to re-sign her. The offer came from Chicago, with $555,000 for one season. The guard was shocked not to receive any offers, but hailed the Sky management for trusting her skills.

    Cloud said, via CBS Sports:

“I think everyone expected me to be ‘crash out Tash’ and to be blunt and talk my shit as I usually do, but there’s growth here. There’s growth. I’ve really worked on who I am as a human being… It wasn’t ‘woe me,’ it wasn’t ‘sad me,’ it was ‘I’m gonna work and when I get that opportunity I’m gonna come in and I’m gonna smack the shit out of everybody.'”

The Sky would not be regretting that decision, as Cloud has given the team crucial minutes off the bench, averaging 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. She has also made clutch buckets when the team needs an escape. However, the team has won just six games thus far. The Sky will now face the Phoenix Mercury, who are coming off a win against the Indiana Fever.
