The Indiana Fever have played all of two games at the start of the 2026 season, yet Caitlin Clark has been trending on social media for a variety of reasons. On the night of the Fever’s clash with the LA Sparks, a viral tweet apparently dropped the biggest CC bombshell of all.
This tweet shows two images of Clark and her boyfriend Connor McCaffery allegedly getting engaged. One image shows McCaffery slipping a ring on Clark’s finger.
It would appear, however, that this tweet is nothing more than a hoax. Neither Caitlin Clark nor Connor McCaffery has officially posted anything about getting engaged to be married.
According to reports, Clark and McCaffery started dating in April 2023. It was around the time that Clark was going on her first trip to the national finals as the superstar of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Meanwhile, McCaffery (also a hooper for the Hawkeyes) was wrapping up his own collegiate career.
McCaffery went on to become an assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers. A year later, the Indianapolis ties grew stronger as Clark was drafted first overall by the Fever. Clark and McCaffery would also be seen hanging out with Pacers court general Tyrese Haliburton and his girlfriend Jade Jones.
Ironically, it was Haliburton and Jones who had a well-documented engagement in July 2025. As for Clark and McCaffery, they publicly greeted each other on the occasion of their third anniversary, but there’s no engagement news just yet.
Viral Clip Shows Caitlin Clark’s Reaction to Fever HC Calling Out Referees After Clash With Sparks
On Wednesday, the Fever-Sparks matchup was top of mind for Caitlin Clark. The Fever won 87-78, but head coach Stephanie White was far from satisfied with the officiating in the game.
In the post-game media session, White claimed that it was hard for Fever center Aliyah Boston to “get into a flow” when the referees frequently blow their whistle at her. A viral clip, which was shot right beside Clark’s face, shows the Fever guard making a wacky face upon hearing White’s admonition.
Nevertheless, the Fever have notched their first win of the season, and they’re now looking to build momentum in the early goings of their 2026 campaign.
