After making incendiary comments about the Chicago Sky front office and roster last September, Angel Reese essentially burned her bridges with the team that drafted her back in 2024. It’s interesting, then, to note what Reese had to say about the positive things she has seen with her new team.

At a media availability on Monday, Reese dished out praise for the Atlanta Dream organization. Some of the things she said may or may not have been directed at the WNBA team that she was frustrated with last year.

“Just being able to come into this gym and be surrounded by great people, I haven’t had to think about anything other than basketball. I think that’s what you want as a professional.”

Angel Reese went on to name-drop Brooklyn Cartwright, the Dream’s director of basketball operations, as she credited key figures within the organization for running a “seamless” business.

“Everybody behind the scenes does an amazing job, from media, to Brookyn, to our GM [Dan Padover]. They all do a great job.”

These comments are in sharp contrast with what Reese had to say about the Sky organization in a Chicago Tribune interview eight months ago. In that interview, she blasted the front office and even her own teammates for failing to put the Sky in a position to succeed.

Reese is likely in her honeymoon phase with the Dream, and it will be interesting to see how things play out in her first season with the team.

“Gonna Help Us a Lot More Than I’m Gonna Help Her”: Dream HC Gets Candid on Expectations for Angel Reese’s First Season in Atlanta

As for Dream head coach Karl Smesko, he told reporters at the same media availability that he holds Angel Reese in high regard.

“Angel’s gonna help us a lot more than I’m gonna help Angel. She’s such a talented player.”

Smesko added that he admires Reese’s “attitude and willingness to work to get better.”
