The Dallas Wings had a rough 2025 season, finishing dead last in the standings and heading to the draft lottery anew. Even after taking Paige Bueckers as the no. 1 pick in last year’s WNBA draft, the Wings struggled to put together wins and found themselves at the bottom of the standings along with the Chicago Sky.

But, yet again, things are starting to look up for the Wings. Four-time WNBA All-Star Arike Ogunbowale has signed a multiyear deal to stay in Dallas, and six-year pro Jessica Shepard (who last competed for the Minnesota Lynx) is also joining the Wings’ roster this year.

The signing of Shepard, a versatile, 6-foor-4 forward, is a much-needed roster boost for the Dallas Wings, whose rotation of forwards and centers is limited at the moment. Maddy Siegrist, Li Yueru, and Rayah Marshall (who came over from the Connecticut Sun in a trade involving Diamond Miller) are also in the Wings’ frontcourt.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Wings also have Grace Berger, Aziaha James, and JJ Quinerly to help out Bueckers and Ogunbowale in the backcourt. As the team’s front office continues to explore its options, sharpshooting guards would come in handy as the Wings were the second-worst three-point shooting team in the WNBA last season.

At the same time, Dallas was also a middling team in terms of protecting the paint. In other words, there are many important roster decisions to make as the Wings deal with free agency and the upcoming WNBA draft.

Will Dallas Wings Take Olivia Miles as the No. 1 Pick? New Mock Draft Makes Case for TCU Guard

Meanwhile, a new mock draft builds a case for a new prospect as the no. 1 pick in the 2026 WNBA draft.

According to analyst Michael Voepel, the Wings should consider taking TCU court general Olivia Miles as the top overall selection.

“She had six triple-doubles this season, including one in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Her court vision is excellent… With that kind of offensive arsenal, Miles could work well with Bueckers (and Arike Ogunbowale, if she stays in Dallas).”

Now that Ogunbowale has decided to stay with the Wings, fans can now seriously consider the possibility of a three-guard lineup with Bueckers, Miles, and Ogunbowale lighting things up in Dallas.

The 2026 WNBA draft, featuring the likes of Miles, Azzi Fudd, and Awa Fam, takes place next Monday at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City.
