“Chen Said No More Statpadding”: WNBA Fans React as Chennedy Carter Gives Paige Bueckers Grown Woman Defense

Chennedy Carter and Paige Bueckers matched up during the Dallas Wings’ last preseason game against the Las Vegas Aces, and it got intense very quickly. The 2025 WNBA draft’s top pick put on a show in the game, with 11 points and nine assists. However, when she matched up with Carter, the Aces guard gave Bueckers a ‘Welcome to the WNBA’ moment.

Carter had her career-best season last year, scoring 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals. When Bueckers went for a crossover on Carter, she stood in front of the Wings guard like a wall and stripped her off the ball.

Fans loved the moment between the two guards, as one mocked Bueckers getting locked up in front of the Aces guard and wrote:

“Chen said, ” No More Statpadding, you’re going to get the Defense.”

Another user mentioned that it was the first face-off between the two, as Carter went unsigned last year due to her conduct on the court. She is notorious for her expressive personality on the floor and for attacking her matchups. The user wrote:

“She gave a hello to Paige since she was absent last year”

Another fan was delighted to see the matchup and demanded more of that aggression in the regular season:

“Looked good! One of my fav players but damn if I didn’t see a little of that anger out there a few plays. Not sure she’s going to be able to control it. We’ll see.”

    Another user joked:

“She should have just passed that ball”

One more user believed that this season would be fun with Carter back on the roster and wrote:

“Oh its gonna be a fun season with Chennedy back on the court”

Besides the above-mentioned play, Paige Bueckers has looked comfortable on the court. In their last win against the Indiana Fever, the Wings guard was clinical, scoring 20 points and shooting 8-10 from the floor.

Paige Bueckers seems prepared for the new season

After a Rookie of the Year campaign last season, Paige Bueckers is all set for a new season to propel the Dallas Wings to a title-winning campaign. Not just with her game, she also seemed to take up her physique game as she looked buffed up in her latest images on social media.

The team’s official channel on X shared her images and wrote:

    “PB5 plays basketball today”

With the Wings acquiring Bueckers’ partner Azzi Fudd in the draft this year, the reigning ROTY will be more than excited to take the court on May 8 against the superstar of the league, Caitlin Clark.

With the Fever getting its core back and adding some crucial pieces to the roster this offseason, they are set to face the challenge from the high-profile duo. Fans will be eager to see the highly anticipated matchup of the two guards.
