A rocky week for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever appeared to have reached its resolution when they defeated the Atlanta Dream 83-71 on Thursday. Midway through the third quarter, Clark had a resounding chest-bump with head coach Stephanie White, with whom she had a verbal altercation this past weekend.

After the game, Clark commented on this emotional moment, which took place after she assisted Kelsey Mitchell on a layup to put the Fever up 49-43.

“She’s had a lot of surgeries. So, I could’ve hurt her honestly. We were both just hyped,” Clark said in a clip posted by James Boyd of The Athletic.

Clark and White had even more reason to feel thrilled after the game as the Fever snapped a two-game skid at the expense of the Dream, who’d entered the game with a 6-2 record.

It was a different story this past Saturday when Clark and White got heated in a blowout loss to the Portland Fire. In a viral clip from that game, White berated Clark during a timeout and asked Raven Johnson to take CC’s seat on the bench.

In the aftermath, both White and Clark downplayed the optics of that moment, saying that they continued to support each other. Now, their partnership has allowed the Fever to get back on the win column early on in this season.

During the game, there were reports that Caitlin Clark was throwing up at halftime. Clark later told reporters that she felt no lingering effects for the rest of the game.

“I tried to eat some applesauce, and then it just came up, and then everything else in my stomach also came up…but then I felt fine.”

Despite this incident, Clark finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high eight assists in the win over the Dream.
