Caitlin Clark Inches Closer To Suspension Following Early Technical During Fever vs Liberty

Though the Indiana Fever blew out the New York Liberty 108-88 on Saturday, Caitlin Clark did not walk away from Gainbridge Fieldhouse unscathed. After the game, Clark stands on the brink of sitting out a game, whether she likes it or not.

This is because Clark picked up a technical foul at the 8:29 mark of the first quarter. Clark’s tech in the Fever-Liberty game is her sixth of the season, meaning that she’s now just two away from incurring an automatic one-game suspension. The Fever star also picked up a $1,000 fine as a result of her latest technical foul.

Clark was whistled for the tech after she collided with Jonquel Jones, who set a hard screen to get Marine Johannes free. Johannes hit a deep three, and as the Fever inbounded the ball, Clark turned to the sideline referee and spoke her mind emphatically.

Despite this early drama, Clark finished with 17 points, second only to Kelsey Mitchell’s 33-point outing on the Fever lineup. It was a volatile game in terms of quality possessions for Clark, as she committed seven turnovers along with seven assists.

The Fever climbed to No. 5 in the standings with this win, but they can ill afford to miss more games from Clark as they look to crack the top four.

“That’s a LeBron Layup There”: Commentators Joke About Caitlin Clark After Travel Call in Fever-Liberty Game

Caitlin Clark went 5-for-14 in this latest win over the Liberty. She might have gotten a sixth field goal to go, had it not been for an extra step that she took.

When Clark got called for a travel in the second quarter, analyst Bria Goss trolled her ever so slightly on the CBS broadcast.

    “That’s a LeBron layup there.”

This was one of the seven turnovers committed by Clark in this game. Fortunately for her, the “LeBron layup” did not have a significant bearing on the outcome.
