Caitlin Clark Drops 3-Word Reaction to Victor Wembanyama Humbling Blazers in NBA Playoffs Debut

WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark joined the list of people exclaiming disbelief in seeing San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama play. After the first half of Sunday’s Game 1 between the Spurs and the Portland Trail Blazers, the Indiana Fever point guard tweeted her reaction:

    “Wemby is ridiculous.”

In Wembanyama’s playoff debut, he had 21 points in the first half on 8-for-13 shooting, including 3-of-4 from deep. The NBA described the performance as the “best scoring half of a postseason debut in the play-by-play era.” His numbers didn’t capture how impressive he was in those first 22 minutes.

In one first-quarter sequence, Victor Wembanyama grabbed a rebound and sprinted upcourt, handling the ball himself. The 7-foot-4 center shook off Blazers All-Star Deni Avdija with a series of moves. The Frenchman faked left before going right and then spinning back to his left for a one-handed jam, prompting the pro-Spurs crowd to get up on their feet to celebrate.

Caitlin Clark, no stranger to incredible feats, seemed at a loss for words to describe Wembanyama in action. Many simply call him the “Alien” due to some of the things that Wemby does on the floor that arguably no other player can do.

Wembanyama said in a 2024 interview that he was in “awe” of Clark’s game. The admiration seems to be a two-way street between the two basketball superstars.

Fans React to Caitlin Clark’s Tweet About Victor Wembanyama

The tweet from Caitlin Clark, the WNBA’s biggest and hottest draw, quickly went viral. One fan reacted to Clark’s reaction to seeing Victor Wembanyama play against the Blazers:

    “I couldn’t agree more.”

    Another fan added:

“He’s a goat. Please let him be.”

    One more fan continued:

    “He likes your game.”

    Another fan commented:

    “When you know, you know.”

    One fan tweeted:

“My goat is watching our alien.”

With Wemby leading the Spurs, the home team is steadily pulling away from the visitors. With 7:31 left in the fourth quarter, San Antonio’s lead has ballooned to 100-83.

Wembanyama already has 30 points on 11-for-18 shooting, including 4 of 5 from 3-point distance. As Clark said, the Frenchman is “ridiculous.”
