Aliyah Boston was surprisingly aligned with one of the Indiana Fever’s most vocal critics, Mariah Rose, as the forward left a comment under her latest TikTok video.
Rose’s video announced that she was on Dawn Staley’s side amid her fallout with the UConn Huskies coach Geno Auriemma. Staley and Auriemma were in a verbal spat at the end of Friday’s Final Four game in which her South Carolina Gamecocks defeated his Huskies.
The drama has divided the WNBA community, with both Auriemma and Staley having coached many of the league’s best players in college. On Saturday, Boston made it clear whose side she was on with her comment under Mariah Rose’s TikTok video.
“I’m on Dawn’s side, idc what happened,” Rose wrote in the caption.
“Everytime thank ya,” Boston commented.
Aliyah Boston spent four seasons playing for Staley’s Gamecocks. She made 138 appearances, averaging 14.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Boston was a key part of the Gamecocks team that won the NCAA title in 2022. Her production under Staley saw Boston being drafted No. 1 by the Indiana Fever in 2023.

Aliyah Boston’s production was key for the Indiana Fever last season, with the team missing Caitlin Clark for the majority of their campaign. She played 44 games, averaging 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 53.8%.
Taking note of her production, her former coach, Staley, made a bold prediction for Boston’s future.
“I think she’s on her way to being the MVP because she works extremely hard at her craft,” Staley said.
Boston is a three-time All-Star and finished sixth in MVP voting last season behind teammate Kelsey Mitchell, who finished fifth. With Clark coming back next season, the Fever will essentially have three players capable of contending for the MVP award.
The abundance of talent on the team could make it difficult for Boston to rack up individual accolades outside the Defensive Player of the Year award. She was named to the All-Defensive Second Team last season.
